NASA and Japan released a new digital topographic map of Earth Monday that covers more of our planet than ever before. The map was produced with detailed measurements from NASA’s Terra spacecraft.

The new global digital elevation model of Earth was created from nearly 1.3 million individual stereo-pair images collected by the Japanese Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer, or ASTER, instrument aboard Terra. NASA and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, known as METI, developed the data set. It is available online to users everywhere at no cost.

The majority of U.S. male and female singles, ranging in ages from 18 - 55+, voted yes to a sham marriage so that a foreigner could remain in the Country; a high percentage said they would be willing to marry strangers for cash. Surprisingly, the majority of men would marry a complete stranger who they’ve only met via a blind date, while the majority of women would marry an ex-boyfriend.

The “envelopes” were opened and the best games named during Nickelodeon’s “AddictingGames Showdown” (Saturday, June 27, 8-10 p.m. ET/PT), the first-of-its-kind convergent, prime-time TV event honoring the coolest, funniest and most addicting games. More than 5 million votes were cast for the cream of the crop from AddictingGames’ library of 3,500 games. Honors went to games in 10 different categories, including: “Best Game From Planet Random” - Tattoo Artist; “Greatest Escape Game” - Escape the Car; “Mostest Edumacational Game” - Magic Pen; and “Most AddictingGame” - World’s Hardest Game.

ZeniMax Media Inc., parent company of noted game publisher Bethesda Softworks, today announced it has completed the acquisition of legendary game studio, id Software, creators of world-renowned games such as DOOM, QUAKE, Wolfenstein, and its upcoming title, RAGE.

The acquisition by ZeniMax Media joins together two of the finest, most respected videogame developers in the world, combining the first person shooter (FPS) expertise of id Software with acclaimed role playing game (RPG) developer Bethesda Game Studios - creators of the 2008 Game of the Year, Fallout 3, and the 2006 Game of the Year, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Bethesda Softworks will publish the titles of id Software other than upcoming releases previously committed to other publishers.
